The second generation Dodge Durango was introduced in 2003
and shares many of its design features with its cousin the Dodge Dakota. The Dodge Durango features a fully boxed
frame and a third row bench seat that brings the total seating capacity to
eight. The rear suspension of the
Durango was redesigned in 2004 with a coil-spring for the solid rear axle which
is fitted with a Watt’s linkage system that centers the axle, reduces rear-end
shake and allowed for lowering and widening the available cargo area. The Dodge Durango shipped with remote keyless
entry standard on all models starting in 2006.
